Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self defense system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting techniques; the discipline was designed to teach a smaller, weaker individual to properly defend against a larger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique. Some of these techniques include the use of joint locks, chokes and sweeps, amongst others. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and submission grappling have become increasingly popular over the years since its introduction to North America through a competitive setting. The Sunflower State Games welcome all grapplers and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners to participate in this event for only the sixth time in Topeka, Kansas.
