Before registering for your event, please read the Sunflower State Games General Rules, Refund Policy and Frequently Asked Questions.

IMPORTANT: Teams will not be allowed to play unless proper registration procedures have been followed. Please note, your team will register and pay the entry fee through MAYB, however you will still need to complete the Sunflower State Games team entry and roster/waiver form for submission to our office by the deadlines listed below.

IMPORTANT: Your registration is not complete until your team roster and signed waiver form has been received in our office. Please note that this process is different than the MAYB's Roster submission procedures. Please read the Team Rosters and Waiver Forms section below very carefully.

Commemorative t-shirts will only be distributed to teams who submit their full roster to the Sunflower State Games office by June 30.

Registration Procedures:

Teams will not be officially considered in the tournament until the following steps have been completed in full.


  • 3rd-12th grade teams must register through MAYB at

  • If entering with MAYB Tournament Pack, please list Sunflower State Games as your area Director.
  • Teams must register and make payment to MAYB by July 8. No late entries.


Please read this section carefully! The Sunflower State Games requires all teams to complete this process. Simply submitting your roster to MAYB does not complete the registration process to compete in the Sunflower State Games youth basketball tournament. Our team roster & waiver form submission process is completely different than MAYB's and must be completed in full. Absolutely no exceptions!

  • Coaches must complete the official Sunflower State Games Youth Basketball Team Entry Form and Roster/Waiver Form.
  • Commemorative t-shirts will only be distributed to teams who have submitted their roster by June 30. Any participant added to a team roster after June 30 will NOT receive a commemorative t-shirt.
  • Team Entry and Roster/Waiver Form Deadline: 6 p.m. on Friday, July 19: Your completed Team Entry and Roster/Waiver form must be received in our office by this date. Rosters will be frozen at this time.

  • By registering for this event, all teams agree to follow the Team Entry and Roster/Waiver submission policies and procedures.
  • If the above deadline is not met, your team will be pulled from the tournament and a refund will NOT be issued.

A coach or representative from each team must check-in at Washburn University - Petro Hall, Room 220 at least one hour prior to their first scheduled game. Failure to do so will result in forfeit of your first game. Check-in will be open from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19 and beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. Click here to view location on map and request directions. Coaches will receive their admission passes at check-in. Passes will be in the form of wrist bands and must be worn on the wrist for the duration of the tournament. Coaches will NOT be allowed in the gymnasium if wrist bands are not worn properly on the wrist. NO EXCEPTIONS!


  • Click here for Complete Tournament Rule and Regulations. Teams agree to follow these rules by registering for the tournament.
  • It will be the coach's responsibility to obtain game times for bracket play on Sunday upon conclusion of pool play on Saturday. Elimination brackets will be posted on this web page when pool play is completed.
  • Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be distributed to the top three teams in each division.
  • Team trophies will be presented to the top two teams in each division.

Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated! The Basketball Commissioner, Director of Officials, Venue Supervisor, and Director of the Games reserve the right to disqualify, eject, or assess a technical foul on any player, team, coach or spectator for a game or the tournament. Two sportsmanship-related technical fouls on a player or coach in a game will result in the disqualification of that player/coach for the remainder of the game (does not include technical fouls associated with score-book errors). Fighting or verbal threats will result in offending person being disqualified from the tournament. If inappropriate behavior is observed prior to the start of a game, or after a game has completed, a sportsmanship-related technical foul will be assessed to the offending team at the beginning of their next scheduled game.


  • Spectator admission will be charged at Youth Basketball games.
  • A weekend family pass (limit two adults and two students) can be purchased on-site for $20.
  • Individual weekend passes can be purchased for $8 per adult and $5 per student.
  • Individual 1-day passes can be purchased for $5 per adult and $3 per student.
  • Spectator Wristbands must be worn on your person (wrist, ankle, shoe, belt-loop, etc.) in order to gain admittance into any gym. COACHES MUST WEAR WRISTBANDS ON THEIR WRIST. Each team will receive two Coach’s wristbands at check-in.
